Very nice use of light and color to set the mood! I will agree with LionQueen16 on the highlight being a bit extreme, but it certainly caught my eye immediately. I think you could have highlighted the cross in the same way to bring attention to it as well and also because that light should affect it too, sice it's so close to the male character. good luck with the contest!
